What is Qubeessaa AI?

Qubeessaa AI is a free online spell checker and grammar assistant designed specifically for the Afaan Oromo language (also known as Oromiffa or Oromo). It uses artificial intelligence and a large vocabulary database to detect spelling errors and suggest accurate corrections in real time.

The name Qubeessaa comes from the Afaan Oromo word for "writer" or "one who writes," reflecting our mission to help Oromo speakers write correctly and confidently.

Afaan Oromo is the most widely spoken Cushitic language in the world, with over 40 million speakers primarily in Ethiopia and Kenya. Despite its large speaker base, digital tools for the language have historically been very limited. Qubeessaa AI aims to change that.
